Serving Couples Across the Relational Spectrum Presented by Samia Khan, MS, LMFT, LPC, CST

Description: This interactive workshop explores the evolving dynamics of relationships, focusing on non-traditional relational structures. Designed for therapists and professionals serving couples, the session delves into understanding and supporting clients across the relational spectrum. Participants will gain tools to engage with diverse relationship types, including non-monogamous and non-traditional arrangements, fostering intimacy, consent, communication, and boundaries.
The first half of the workshop will focus on foundational concepts, theoretical insights, and practical tools, while the second half invites hands-on engagement through activities, discussions, and real-time Q&A. The aim is to equip participants with both in-session strategies and tools clients can apply outside the therapy room.

Learning Objectives:
- Define and contextualize non-traditional and non-monogamous relationships.
- Identify tools and techniques to foster intimacy, communication, and boundaries in diverse relational settings.
- Develop strategies for incorporating consent and ethical practices in relationship counseling.
- Apply learned tools to enhance client experiences both within and outside therapy sessions.
Presenter Information: Samia Khan, with a rich cultural heritage and a diverse professional background in both the medical field and social services, provides tailored therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families. Her approach is grounded in a holistic perspective, considering the unique biological, psychological, cultural, and environmental factors that shape each person.
Samia earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Biology from the University of Whitewater in 2015. Following that, she worked with Mercy Hospital’s Options Program and Rogers Behavioral Health, providing crisis counseling and serving as a Sexual Assault Advocate. She then continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017.
Samia is a fully licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Additionally, she is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. She specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families, offering counseling and workshops that foster growth and healing.
