Effective Supervision: Ethics and Skills for Enhanced Competence
Presented by: Carol Falendar, Ph.D, University of California, Los Angeles

Workshop Description:  This workshop is designed to provide the most current skills to enhance ethical supervision practice including cultural humility, competencies, supervision guidelines and best practices, the supervisory relationship, strain, ruptures, repair, reflective practice, diversity and multiculturalism in all aspects, assessment, feedback, and evaluation strategies, legal and ethical frames, self-care, and management of supervisees not meeting performance competency standards. Through a competency-based frame, interactive meta-theoretical strategies for practice are developed through practice exercises, skill-building, video review, and reflection.  This is a six-hour program to be conducted via Zoom in two three-hour segments.

Presenter Information: Carol A. Falender, PhD, is co-author or co-editor of multiple books on clinical supervision and one on consultation, and has written many articles. She has conducted workshops and symposia internationally. She directed APA-accredited internship programs for over 20 years, was a member of the Supervision Guidelines Group of the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB), and was Chair of the Supervision Guidelines Task Force of APA. Dr. Falender is a fellow of APA (Divisions 29, 37, 43), adjunct professor of Pepperdine University, and clinical professor in the UCLA Psychology Department. She received the 2018 Distinguished Career Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology Award from APA.
