In April of this year, new federal regulations regarding patient access to health care records became effective. In general, the new regulations impact rights to access electronic health information and the requirements apply broadly to health care providers and electronic health records systems and exchanges. Many health care providers are still in the process of assessing the impact on their organization and developing policies to come into compliance.
