Training & Events

WAFCA provides a forum for behavioral health and human services practitioners and leaders to learn together and from one another. Through our Continuing Education Program (WAFCA-CE), leadership events, Great Lakes MHTTC Trainings, and regular virtual connections, members share their experiences and work together to improve the quality of services and the lives of the families and children entrusted to their care.

Continuing Education

For more than 25 years, WAFCA has provided quality, timely continuing education for professionals serving children and families in Wisconsin. Each year, we train more than 1,000 participants including social workers, therapists, counselors, case managers, residential care workers, parenting support aides and in-home support workers on topics ranging from family systems to addiction and trauma.

As the Wisconsin partner for the Great Lakes Mental Health Technology Transfer Center, we also offer high-value virtual trainings and technical assistance.

Leadership Events

Throughout the year, leaders from WAFCA member agencies meet with state policy makers and state administration leaders, participate in joint learning sessions, and hear more about the innovative work of fellow members from across Wisconsin.

Leadership Summit

March 10 & 11 , 2022 (Materials from 2021 Virtual Summit)
The WAFCA Leadership Summit gathers member leaders from around the state in Madison to meet with state policy makers and state administration leaders. This 2-day event features timely updates on legislation, a briefing on WAFCA policy and funding priorities, and plenty of time to network with colleagues and state and county partners.

WAFCA Institute

June 21-23, 2022
This one-of-a-kind event typically gathers members up in beautiful Door County for two days of retreat and joint learning. Due to the pandemic, this year's event will not be in-person; however, please save the dates as we may still offer some content virtually.

Membership Meeting

The annual Membership Meeting is a one-day event in southeastern Wisconsin packed full of panel presentations highlighting the expertise and innovation of our WAFCA members, state policy updates by WAFCA staff and quality networking time.

Communities of Practice & E-lists
